Bone Grafting

The strength of your jawbone is essential to your overall oral health. If your jawbone has been weakened by missing teeth or trauma, a bone graft may be necessary to restore its strength and stability. This procedure helps rebuild and fortify your jaw, ensuring it’s strong enough to support both dental implants and natural teeth. At Physimed Dentaire, our skilled dentists perform bone graft surgery to restore volume and thickness to your jaw, creating a healthy foundation for replacing missing or damaged teeth. Contact us to learn more and schedule an appointment.

What Are The Benefits?

Bone grafting therapy can be a vital step in restoring your oral health, especially if you’ve experienced bone loss or jaw weakening. Here are some of the key benefits:

  • Restores Jawbone Strength: Reinforces the jaw to support both dental implants and natural teeth.
  • Prevents Bone Loss: Stops further deterioration of the jawbone after tooth loss.
  • Improves Facial Structure: Helps maintain facial shape by preserving jawbone volume.
  • Supports Dental Implants: Creates a solid foundation for successful, long-lasting dental implants.
  • Promotes Overall Oral Health: Protects surrounding teeth and gums, enhancing long-term oral wellness.

Experience the restorative power of bone grafting to rebuild and strengthen your smile!

What to Expect of a Bone Graft procedure

A bone graft helps strengthen your jaw and prepares it for a dental implant, though the process does require some patience. Some procedures can take several months to complete, but the result is a healthier, stronger jawbone that will support both your dental implants and natural teeth. The graft may come from your own body, such as your chin, hip, or shin (an autograft, allograft or xenograft) each has its advantages and inconvenience. After administering sedation and local anesthesia, your dentist will make an incision in your gums to expose the bone and attach the graft, along with collagen and proteins to encourage growth. The area is then sutured and disinfected. Over the next six months or more, the graft will fuse with your jawbone (a process called osseointegration). During this time, maintaining a good oral care routine with regular brushing, flossing, and any recommended products is essential for optimal healing.

Gum Grafting

If periodontal (gum) disease has progressed to advanced stages, you may experience gum recession, which causes a higher gumline and exposed tooth roots. At Physimed Dentaire, gum grafting may be part of your treatment to restore tissue to your gumline and protect your teeth. With several grafting options available, our doctors will create a personalized plan to repair your receding gums. Contact our office to learn how gum graft surgery can improve your gum health, protect your teeth, and enhance the overall appearance of your smile.

What Are The Benefits?

Gum grafting therapy is an effective solution for restoring both the health and appearance of your gums, especially if you’re dealing with gum recession due to periodontal disease. Here are some key benefits:

  • Restores Gumline: Repairs receding gums for a healthier, more balanced gumline.
  • Protects Tooth Roots: Shields exposed roots from sensitivity, decay, and damage.
  • Prevents Further Gum Recession: Strengthens gums to prevent further recession and potential tooth loss.
  • Enhances Smile Aesthetics: Improves the look of your smile by covering exposed tooth roots.
  • Promotes Better Oral Health: Supports healthier gums and long-term dental wellness.

Gum grafting is a great way to protect and rejuvenate your smile!

What to Expect of a Gum graft procedure

There are several types of gum grafts tailored to address your specific needs. The most common type, connective tissue grafts, involves making an incision in the roof of your mouth to harvest a small flap of skin. The connective tissue from this flap is then grafted onto your gums to cover exposed tooth roots. A free gingival graft is similar but involves taking a larger amount of tissue from the roof of your mouth to strengthen particularly thin gums. Another option, the pedicle graft, involves moving existing gum tissue from one area to cover the needed spot. After the procedure, you can usually go home, but it’s important to rest for a few days. Our team will provide detailed recovery instructions, including dietary restrictions and any necessary medications. You might experience some oral discomfort or pain, which can be eased with cold packs and over-the-counter pain relievers.

Gum Lift

A “gummy smile” is when excess gum tissue covers the upper part of your teeth, making them appear shorter. At Physimed Dentaire, we offer a gum lift procedure to enhance your smile by removing this extra tissue and revealing more of your teeth. This cosmetic gum sculpting not only improves the aesthetics of your smile but can also boost your oral health by reducing areas where bacteria can accumulate. This helps lower your risk of gum disease, cavities, and oral infections. Contact our team to schedule an appointment and discover how gum sculpting can transform your smile.

What Are The Benefits?

Gum contouring can be a transformative solution for achieving a more radiant and healthier smile. Here are some key benefits:

  • Enhances Smile Aesthetics: Unveils more of your teeth for a balanced, attractive smile.
  • Improves Oral Health: Minimizes areas where bacteria can accumulate, reducing the risk of gum disease and cavities.
  • Boosts Confidence: Provides a beautiful smile that enhances your self-esteem.
  • Simplifies Oral Care: Makes it easier to maintain proper oral hygiene by eliminating hidden areas.

Elevate your smile and enhance your oral health with a gum lift at Physimed Dentaire.

What to Expect of a Gum Lift treatment

At Physimed Dentaire, gum contouring is a straightforward in-office procedure performed under local anesthesia. For those who experience dental anxiety, sedation medications are available. Prior to the procedure, your teeth and gums will be thoroughly disinfected and dried. Using a specialized laser tool (Diode Lazer), your dentist will carefully remove excess gum tissue to achieve a more balanced gumline. The laser also seals the soft tissue, reducing bleeding during the treatment. Typically, gum contouring can be completed in a single appointment. Afterward, we’ll provide you with detailed recovery instructions to follow at home. While some swelling may occur, it should subside within a few days as your gum tissue heals with proper oral care.

Periodontal Disease

Periodontal (gum) disease is an inflammatory condition that can lead to significant damage to your oral health if left untreated. It progresses through several stages, starting with gingivitis, which is caused by plaque buildup in the gum pockets. If not addressed, gingivitis can advance to periodontitis, affecting the supporting fibers and bone around your tooth roots. The final stage, advanced periodontitis, can result in loose or lost teeth. At Physimed Dentaire, we offer both nonsurgical and surgical treatments to manage and treat gum disease effectively. Reach out to our office to schedule an examination with one of our skilled doctors.

What Are The Benefits?

Managing periodontal disease effectively is essential for maintaining your oral health, and we offer both nonsurgical and surgical treatments tailored to your needs. Here are the benefits of each approach:

Nonsurgical Treatments:

  • Reduces Inflammation and Improves Gum Health: Clears plaque and tartar to alleviate gum inflammation and promote healing, often reversing early stages of gum disease.
  • Minimally Invasive: Involves procedures like scaling and root planing with a focus on enhancing your home care routine to prevent recurrence.

Surgical Treatments:

  • Repairs Advanced Damage and Restores Tissue: Addresses severe gum disease by rebuilding and repairing damaged gum tissues and bone, improving tooth stability and reducing pocket depth.

Choosing the right treatment to protect and restore your gum health is a decision our expert team will carefully guide you through, ensuring the best possible outcome for your oral well-being.

What to Expect from a Periodontal Disease treatment

The treatment for periodontal disease depends on the severity of the infection. For early-stage cases, scaling and root planing (SRP) is typically performed to disinfect the gum pockets. In more advanced cases, antibiotics may  be injected (ARERSTIN ) along with additional SRP treatments  or lazer therapy applied in deep pockets. Severe cases often require surgical procedures, such as pocket reduction or gum grafting. Recovery time can vary based on the stage of the disease and your specific treatment plan, which may involve multiple visits to Physimed Dentaire. Once your oral health is restored, regular dental exams and cleanings at Physimed Dentaire are essential to maintain your gum health. For the first year after this treatment, we recommend recare visits every 3-4 months ( and not the usual 6 month delay ).

Aesthetic Crown Lengthening

Aesthetic crown lengthening is a specialized oral surgery designed to enhance both the health and appearance of your smile. Despite its name, crown lengthening doesn’t actually make the tooth longer; rather, it involves removing excess gum tissue to expose more of the enamel. This procedure is often sought to improve a “gummy” smile or when there isn’t enough visible tooth structure to support a filling, crown, or other restoration. To learn more about how crown lengthening can benefit you, schedule an appointment at Physimed Dentaire.

What Are The Benefits?

Aesthetic crown lengthening is a transformative procedure that enhances both the health and appearance of your smile. Here are the key benefits:

  • Improves Smile Aesthetics: Reduces a “gummy” smile by revealing more of your tooth enamel for a balanced, attractive look.
  • Supports Restorations: Provides enough tooth structure for effective placement of fillings, crowns, and other restorations.
  • Boosts Confidence: Enhances the overall appearance of your smile, helping you feel more self-assured.
  • Achieves Even Gumline: Creates a more symmetrical gumline, contributing to a harmonious and well-proportioned smile.

Discover how aesthetic crown lengthening can elevate your smile by scheduling an appointment with us.

What to Expect from a Aesthetic Crown Lengthening treatment

Before the crown lengthening procedure, local anesthesia will be administered to ensure your comfort. If you have concerns about the procedure, discuss additional sedation options with our team during your initial consultation. The procedure involves carefully removing small slivers of gum tissue to reveal more of your enamel, followed by sculpting the gumline for a balanced appearance. After the treatment, your dentist will seal the gum tissue to control bleeding and disinfect your mouth. Post-procedure, you might experience soreness and swelling. Using cold compresses and over-the-counter pain relievers can help alleviate discomfort, though we may also prescribe antibiotics or pain medication if needed. Sticking to a liquid or soft food diet can aid in your healing process.
